Hello follow up training/the period where people decide whether or not they can still call you a greenie. We get our transfer calls in T-6 hours, so by the time you read this I'll know if I'm staying in Battipaglia or not, and who my new companion will be! It's incredibly unlikely that I'll do 3 transfers with Sorella Oveson, but it would be amazing if we did.
This week we took on the roles of missionary, travel agent, attorney, and realtor, all of which I am very underqualified for. First, Sorella Summerhays came back to Battipaglia this week to get her permesso di sogiorno, so we were in charge of making sure her travel plans were arranged and that everything at the questura went according to plan. Then on top of that, we were put in charge of finding a house for a new family moving into our ward from Honduras. Luckily we have a contact who has dedicated her life to service and said not only would she help us find a house, but also stock it with food and clothes. She's a very devoted Catholic woman and I admire her with all my heart.
Carnivale ended this week with an epic Martedì Grasso. Because of a scambio, I ended up spending my Martedi Grasso in NAPOLI. Where people throw washing machines off their balconies for new years and the teenagers throw eggs and flour at people for Carnivale. We were inside the Napoli church chatting with our potentials for most of the evening, but walking back to the train I was filled with fear that I would be hit by flying pasta ingredients.
We had two amazing miracles this week. First, we found a sweet new investigator from Romania! When Sorella Summerhays came up, we decided to do some trio finding. Fun fact about trio finding: either it works miracles, or you end up accidentally cornering frightened Italian grandmas. We were fortunate enough to have a miracle! This sweet woman opened up to us and we had a great lesson with her the next day. THEN last night we were doing door to door and at the very last name on the citofono a sweet old man let us in. He told us his wife had just died and we shared with him Mosiah 16. He was leaving to Rome but wanted to meet with us when he got back! It's amazing to me that Heavenly Father puts people in our paths who are so ready to hear this message.
I love you all so much!
Sorella Maxfield
